About ten of our lucky members had the opportunity to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, or known as Habijax to the locals in Jacksonville. They had a blast while working hard to create new homes for the community!
They even had the chance to enjoy a delicious group lunch at Firehouse Subs!
On Wednesday Oct. 29th, we tabled at Market Day’s themed, “Ghastly Gourmets,” to raise money to End Polio! We raised over $100, and at 66 cents per vaccination, we were able to save 173 lives that day! Thank you to all who helped bake the night before and to everyone who came out and tabled. We definitely have some loyal and dedicated members.
The ghastly gourmet menu included caramel apple cupcakes, smore brownies, vanilla cupcakes, brownie batter nilla wafer sandwiches, red velvet cookies and our specialty pumpkin muffins!
Brooke Sion, Community Projects Director, and Tara Lassi, Club Historian and Webmaster, were part of our set-up crew bright and early at 8:30am. Our President Lauren Fowler was also a huge help by bringing all the materials bright and early! A big big thanks to everyone who helped out and made this years fall bake sale such a success!
This year marked the 10th annual Halloween Doors n More, organized by Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. UNF Rotaract had an amazing time volunteering with them for another year. Many of our members were able to dress up as some fun and exciting characters, while others were able to do a lot of other fun stuff such as serving food, leading the characters around the building, or working behind some of the amazing doors shown above.

We had an amazing turnout this year at the 5th Annual North Coast Surfers for Autism Beach Festival! Surfers for Autism is an organization whose mission is to “unlock the the potential of people with developmental delays, support advocacy for autism issues and scientific research, and to eliminate stigma through public awareness and education and to unite communities through volunteerism.” If you would like to know more about SFA and all that they do, click here to visit their official website. Rotaract is proud to have volunteered with them for the 2nd year in a row and we are excited to continue volunteering with them in the future.
UNF Rotaract, along with the UNF Environmental Center and Eco-Adventures, presented students with many opportunities on how to get involved on campus. All three of these clubs are highly active in the Jacksonville community and are working hard to improve on issues such as recycling and land preservation.

It’s back to school which means it was time for UNF’s annual Week of Welcome Luau! We met a lot of enthusiastic freshman ready to get involved with us and it looks like it’s going to be a great turnout this year!
