10th Annual Halloween Doors N More 2014

Processed with Moldiv

This year marked the 10th annual Halloween Doors n More, organized by Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.  UNF Rotaract had an amazing time volunteering with them for another year.  Many of our members were able to dress up as some fun and exciting characters, while others were able to do a lot of other fun stuff such as serving food, leading the characters around the building, or working behind some of the amazing doors shown above.

Surfers for Autism 2014

We had an amazing turnout this year at the 5th Annual North Coast Surfers for Autism Beach Festival!  Surfers for Autism is an organization whose mission is to “unlock the the potential of people with developmental delays, support advocacy for autism issues and scientific research, and to eliminate stigma through public awareness and education and to unite communities through volunteerism.”  If you would like to know more about SFA and all that they do, click here to visit their official website.  Rotaract is proud to have volunteered with them for the 2nd year in a row and we are excited to continue volunteering with them in the future.

First Fall General Meeting 2014

We had our first general meeting on September 2nd.  We had an amazing time meeting new members, talking about our upcoming events such as Halloween Doors n More and Surfers for Autism, catching up with friends, and eating some delicious pizza!  We will have our next general meeting on October 7th.  We look forward to watching the club grow this year with new members and new events!

Our past Community Projects Director, Caroline Daguinod, is enthusiastic and ready to start the meeting!

Don’t Mess the Nest

UNF Rotaract, along with the UNF Environmental Center and Eco-Adventures, presented students with many opportunities on how to get involved on campus.  All three of these clubs are highly active in the Jacksonville community and are working hard to improve on issues such as  recycling and land preservation.

Several of our amazing members attended the 2014 Rotary District Conference in Daytona Beach.

What is the District Conference?
At this conference there are representatives from all the Rotary clubs in our district, District 6970, and also other Rotaract clubs there as well! It’s a day filled with seminars and Rotarians explaining their successes and failures from their year’s events.
At the end of the event awards are presented to any and all clubs that qualify.
Congratulations Rotaract! We received the Zone Award and the Presidential Citation!
The Zone Award is essentially a checklist of many of the important aspects of service above self. There are questions asking whether or not we held a community based project, an International based project, a mentoring program, etc! All of which we did!
The President Citation is the highest award given to Rotaract and Rotary clubs.
Thank you all for your contributions to a wonderful year last year. We could not have attained these awards without you!!
Can’t wait to start another fantastic and productive year with all of you!
